Cherry Kitchen With A Granite Island
A working island with a dark granite top and a seated overhang, set against a full wall of cherry cabinetry and a corner display cabinet.
A room like this one is where custom work earns its money. The ceiling slopes, the skylight throws the light in a different place every hour, and the corner turns twice before it reaches the window.
The uppers step down as the ceiling drops, with crown moulding mitred to follow the change rather than stopping short of it. The corner is closed with a louvred appliance cabinet so the run reads as continuous instead of leaving a dead angle.
Everything is raised panel cherry, stained and finished in our shop and installed by the same people who built it. The glazed display cabinet at the end of the run carries the same door profile at a smaller scale.
